Update on My Life

Hey all! (all being like my sister the only one who reads my blog, LOL).

So I have been really busy and with spring break over I only have 4 1/2 weeks of college left. I am super excited but at the same time scared and sad. College was a blast; I made amazing friends and had adventures that I will never ever forget. I would like to take some time to commemorate these moments:

-The Infamous Fear Fest Night ("bubbling" and Bacardi O)
-Meeting Tiffany my best friend so randomly and staying so close over weird circumstances
-The night Jessica hit a parked car on our way to Hardees (and Arby's, that happened a lot)
-Crazy Tim Reedy and the Lovely Christy Fix, always fun
-Drinking everyday/night in the dorms
-Almost getting caught the last night of finals Freshemen year with booze (R.A. "Why do you all have so much soda and ice?" Three minutes later us "our fridge is unplugged and we're really thirsty")
-Beer Pong Wednesdays at 101
-"Kanye West" cuz that sure happened
-My first ever road trip
-The crazy snow storm we played in for hours
-Road trip to Joplin (both; the secret one and the one where we broke down)
-The night Becca, Lauren and I had nothing to do so we drove to Jeff City to the Ice Arena, the theatre, and two dudes houses' while drinking amaretto
-sneaking onto Becca's dad's quarry to drink and play on the sand piles
-my first apartment
-my first duplex
-my first love
-my first engagement ring, and hopefully the next is my last....and bigger. lol
-waiting to write a paper on Gandhi until the night before it's due only to realize his book is rather long only to procrastinate more by going to Arby's

Those are really the only things I can think of off the top of my head but believe me there are WAAY more. Actually we kept a notebook and wrote down all the stories and crazy things we said over the years.

I like that none of my memories really involve school....but some do I could go on.

I am currently on a never-ending quest to find a job. In this economy, it is NOT an easy task. I do not know how many jobs I have applied for as of now, but I am thinking at least 15. How many of those jobs have I interviewed for---ZERO. Rejected from all. Except, I did receive an email from Boys and Girls Club that my resume was being passed on, so that is at least something. But seriously, I have a 3.9 GPA leadership experience and lots of different jobs---and I am rather proficient in Spanish. Anyway, if anyone out there wants to hire me I would be appreciative.

Mardi Gras In St. Louis

This past weekend, my best friend, Tiffany, and I went to Mardi Gras in St. Louis. Needless to say it was a crazy good time. The only downfall was that it was freezing (literally) outside. Dressed in at least 5 layers each, even the mass amounts of booze couldn't keep us warm. Now really we didn't have that much to drink, but it was really cold.

My So Called Life

I love to reminisce about everything. While thinking about the old tv show "Popular" I remembered "My So Called Life." Good Old Claire Danes with red hair and her crazy friend...oh what was her name? Well, I have decided that from now on when I am bored I will watch this show. There is more to come later.

Money, Oh Money, Where art Thou?

Checking the status of my credit card this morning, I had a rude awakening. I am broke. As this is the case with most college students I don't expect any pitty from anyone. However, I am quite confused as I have 2 jobs. Granted, I work only about 25 hours a week at the most, but still. So where is my money going?

Booze? No, I only spent $25 this month out and about.
Food? Could be. I spent about $150 eating out and at the grocery store. I am making an effort to eat at home more which has already saved me about twenty bucks this week alone.
Clothes: Not this month. After last months disastrous $200 bill for clothes I only spent $8.75 at the clothing store I work at which was for 2 super duper clearance items.
Misc: Nope. I went to the movies twice the whole month and bought one $5 movie (Romeo + Juliet with Leo DeiCaprio and Claire Danes) and one Birthday card for 3 dollars.

The Verdict:
I need to become anorexic which would save me plenty of money. Just Kidding. I love food way too much to do that.

*As a side note I did fail to mention the $100 dollars my friend conned me into spending on the Bud Light tent for Mardi Gras in St. Louis....BUT in my defense I am only young once and have never been.

Too Bad Our Parents Name Us

During my Historical Research and Methods course (my culminating senior class, WOO HOO), I stumbled upon a curious question. What does our name say about who we are? Well, it says nothing about who we are because it more or less describes what our parents want for us. With a name like William, George, or Harold a parent could only hope for a senator, doctor, or lawyer. Those given monickers like Scott, Hunter, or perhaps Lukas are maybe hoping for an athlete of some sort. Really these are just simple observations.

If I had the opportunity to pick my name it would be:

Svetlana Yatzee

Becuase: A. Svetlana is a very pretty Russian name who could be a secretary by day and a spy at night. B. Yatzee is a fabulous last name because no one can yell Yatzee without smiling and if anyone knows me they know that I like to make people smile.

My First Official Blog

My name is Elizabeth. And yes, it is Elizabeth, not Beth, Betsy, Liza, Eliza, Lisa, Liz, or Lizzy. Only a few special people have the right to call me Liz.

Currently, I am at work in the student computer lab and wanted to see what this whole blogging thing was about. Well here it is. In all my wondrous glory I will let all of you know about my life and the random thoughts that run through my little head.

The blog's title comes from a friend who was just describing to me that there are lucky lucky people out in the world that get paid to blog about their lives. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people. I am just incredibly bored at work.
